Utah Celery Microgreen Seed Highlights

  • Germination: 12 to 15 days.
  • Soak: No need.
  • Harvest: Up to 5 weeks.
  • Flavor: Intense celery flavor.
  • Nutrients: Vitamins A, B, C, and E, calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, and phosphorus.

Celery microgreens have light-green leaves with an intense celery flavor. The best part about celery microgreens is that there are no tough strings like the stalks.

Celery microgreens are a great addition to any salad or sandwich. They’re also great chopped and added to chicken or tuna salad.

Wait until the true leaves form before harvesting. However, intense celery flavor is present at a young age.

Celery microgreens will be short and small, but the intense flavor means you don’t need much volume to improve your salads and food flavors.

Once harvested, celery microgreens will grow back!

Celery seeds are tiny, and they take a while to germinate. So the secret is not to worry. The celery seeds will germinate, and the microgreens will fill the tray.

Growing celery microgreens takes patience.

How Much Seed Do I Need?

You don’t need to worry about how much seed you need if you use Home Microgreen planting trays or 1010 trays. Each seed packet has the correct number of seeds for a perfect tray of Celery microgreens that will re-grow after harvest!

The seeding area of a Home Microgreen Tray is 37.5 square inches.

However, if you’re using a different planting tray, use the calculator in the article below to figure out how much seed you need.

Click this link to use the calculator: Home Microgreens Seed Density Calculator.

Seeding Density

Seeding Density for Celery Seed

By Weight

Home Microgreens Tray: 0.6 grams

1010 Tray: 1.1 grams

1020 Tray: 3.2 grams

By Measuring Spoon

Home Microgreens Tray: 0.2 teaspoons

1010 Tray: 0.6 teaspoons

1020 Tray: 1.1 teaspoons

All volumetric measurements are level, not heaping spoons.

I use these vertical-sided measuring spoons because the seeds are easier to level with the straight sides.

These are my recommended seeding densities to produce a great-looking tray of Celery microgreens.

I like to allow microgreen leaves to develop to a larger size as they provide more nutrition & flavor than producing smaller leaves and stems.

Microgreen density depends on many environmental factors and seed germination percentages.

You may prefer to modify the seeding density, but my seeding densities are a great starting point if nothing else.

Check out the Home Microgreens Seed Density Course if you have a different size tray.
