Organic Fenugreek Seeds Highlights

  • Germination: 2 to 3 days
  • Soak: Yes, 4 to 6 hours
  • Harvest: 8 to 10 days
  • Flavor: I noticed a grassy flavor with a bit of sour hit on my tongue. Spicy aftertaste like curry, not too bitter if you use a pitch of leaves.
  • Nutrients: High in Vitamin C, it also contains Vitamin A, Niacin (B3), Folate (B9), Vitamin E, Vitamin K, Iron, Magnesium, Potassium, and Zinc.

These are certified organic fenugreek seeds that can be used to grow microgreens, sprouts, or even as an herb in your garden. All parts of the plant can be used, fresh, dried, or ground. Fenugreek is common in Indian dishes and also goes by the name Methi.

Whatever you want to call it, these seeds quickly grow into harvestable dark green juicy microgreens and have a complex flavor profile, especially if the spent seed hull is eaten with the microgreens.

Before planting, you will need to soak the organic Fenugreek seed for a few hours.

I planted my first batches using the weighted blackout method, but I have heard they can be grown in many ways.

Fenugreek microgreens are ready to harvest in as few as 8 to 10 days. They seem to prefer a warmer growing area in the mid-70s, although I have grown them in a room that averaged mid-60s, and they grew well, only slower.

It is easy to grow and requires little light, making it an excellent microgreen for beginners.

How Much Seed Do You Need For Your Tray?

You don’t need to worry about how much seed you need if you use Home Microgreen planting trays or 1010 trays. Each seed packet has the correct number of seeds for a perfect tray of Organic Fenugreek microgreens.

The seeding area of a Home Microgreen Tray is 37.5 square inches.

However, if you’re using a different planting tray, use the calculator in the article below to figure out how much seed you need.

Click this link to use the calculator: Home Microgreens Seed Density Calculator.

Seeding Density

By Weight

Home Microgreens Tray: 5.3 grams

1010 Tray: 14.1 grams

1020 Tray: 28.2 grams

By Measuring Spoon

Home Microgreens Tray: 1.4 teaspoons

1010 Tray: 3.6 teaspoons

1020 Tray: 7.3 teaspoons

All volumetric measurements are level, not heaping spoons.

I use these vertical-sided measuring spoons because the seeds are easier to level with the straight sides.

These are my recommended seeding densities to produce a great-looking tray of Fenugreek microgreens.

I like to allow microgreen leaves to develop to a larger size as they provide more nutrition & flavor than producing smaller leaves and stems.

Microgreen density depends on many environmental factors and seed germination percentages.

You may prefer to modify the seeding density, but my seeding densities are a great starting point, if nothing else.

Check out the Home Microgreens Seed Density Course if you have a different-size tray.

Conversions

28.35 grams equals 1 ounce.

Three teaspoons equal 1 Tablespoon

Four Tablespoons equal 1/4 cup
