Brussel Sprout Microgreen Seed Highlights

  • Germination: 2 to 3 days.
  • Soak: No need.
  • Harvest: 8 to 12 days
  • Flavor: The microgreens are dark green with a mild flavor (unlike the mature vegetable!). The leaf is thick and crunchy.
  • Nutrients: Vitamins A, C, k, calcium, potassium, and antioxidants.

Brussel Sprout microgreens are one of my recommended beginner microgreens. They are easy to grow and have a mild flavor. If your growing area is cool, brussel sprout microgreen seed can germinate well at lower temperatures.

They’re crisp and juicy, making them a great addition to any microgreen salad or sandwich topping.

The leaves are dark green, and the stems are primarily pure white with some more of a rose color. Brussel sprout microgreens are strong and hold up well as they grow.

Like most brassicas, Brussels Sprout microgreens are a favorite because of their health benefits; they’re an excellent source of sulforaphane and many other vitamins and minerals.

They are an excellent choice as a base for any microgreens salad or just added to salads. Because of their crisp texture, they’re also a tremendous raw topping for sandwiches or burgers.

The Brussel Sprout microgreen seed we sell is of the variety Long Island Improved if you’d like to grow them in the garden.

How Much Seed Do You Need For Your Tray?

You don’t need to worry about how much seed you need if you use Home Microgreen planting trays or 1010 trays. Each seed packet has the correct number of seeds for a perfect tray of Brussel Sprout microgreens.

The seeding area of a Home Microgreen Tray is 37.5 square inches.

However, if you’re using a different planting tray, use the calculator in the article below to figure out how much seed you need.

Click this link to use the calculator: Home Microgreens Seed Density Calculator.

Seeding Density

Seeding Density for Brussel Sprout Microgreen Seed

By Weight

Home Microgreens Tray: 3.0 grams

1010 Tray: 8.0 grams

1020 Tray: 16 grams

By Measuring Spoon

Home Microgreens Tray: 0.9 teaspoons

1010 Tray: 2.3 teaspoons

1020 Tray: 1.5 Tablespoons

All volumetric measurements are level, not heaping spoons.

I use these vertical-sided measuring spoons because the seeds are easier to level with the straight sides.

These are my recommended seeding densities to produce a great-looking tray of Brussels Sprout microgreens.

I like to allow microgreen leaves to develop to a larger size as they provide more nutrition & flavor than producing smaller leaves and stems.

Microgreen density depends on many environmental factors and seed germination percentages.

You may prefer to modify the seeding density, but my seeding densities are a great starting point, if nothing else.

Check out the Home Microgreens Seed Density Course if you have a different-size tray.
