Waltham Broccoli Microgreen Seeds Highlights

  • Germination: 2 to 3 days.
  • Soak: No need.
  • Harvest: 8 to 12 days
  • Flavor: Tender plants with mild broccoli and earthy flavor. Some taste a cabbage-like flavor.
  • Nutrients: Over 220% of Vitamin C, A & B6, calcium, iron, and magnesium.

Waltham broccoli microgreen seeds are easy to grow, and the microgreens are deliciously mild, with a fresh cabbage flavor that makes a great addition to any microgreen salad or garnishes.

The leaves are brilliant green. They have a thin whitish stem with light shades of purple.

Broccoli microgreens are a favorite because of their health benefits; they’re an excellent source of sulforaphane and other vitamins and minerals.

In my opinion, broccoli is the most nutritional microgreen available and is reported to have cancer-fighting properties.

While broccoli heads take over 100 days to grow, broccoli microgreens grow in just eight days and have the same distinct flavor.

They also have higher nutritional value by weight, and their small size and soft texture require little prep before serving.

Broccoli microgreens are an excellent choice as a base for any microgreens salad, added to salads or eggs just before serving.

However, you can use broccoli microgreens anywhere you would use broccoli florets. Their mild spicy flavor and lack of bitterness make them liked by even those who dislike mature broccoli.

Seeding Density

Seeding Density for Broccoli Microgreen Seeds

By Weight

Home Microgreens Tray: 3.3 grams

1010 Tray: 8.9 grams

1020 Tray: 17.8 grams

By Measuring Spoon

Home Microgreens Tray: 1 teaspoon

1010 Tray: 2.6 teaspoons

1020 Tray: 1.8 Tablespoons

All volumetric measurements are level, not heaping spoons.

I use these vertical-sided measuring spoons because the seeds are easier to level with the straight sides.

These are my recommended seeding densities to produce a great-looking tray of Broccoli microgreens.

I like to allow microgreen leaves to develop to a larger size as they provide more nutrition & flavor than producing smaller leaves and stems.

Microgreen density depends on many environmental factors and seed germination percentages.

You may prefer to modify the seeding density, but my seeding densities are a great starting point, if nothing else.

Check out the Home Microgreens Seed Density Course if you have a different size tray.
