Do We Need Arsenic In Our Diet?

Whether arsenic is an ultratrace metal our body needs is a controversial topic. Some studies have shown that animals need small amounts of arsenic for optimal health, but there is no clear evidence that humans need arsenic in any amount.

Arsenic is a toxic element that can cause a variety of health problems, including cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. Even low levels of arsenic exposure can be harmful.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends a drinking water standard of 10 micrograms per liter (10 µg/L) for arsenic. However, some experts believe that the safe level of arsenic exposure is even lower.

A toxic brew we cannot live without. Micronutrients give insights into the interplay between geochemistry and evolutionary biology.

As A Geologist Who Has Done Environmental Work…

You do not have to worry about not getting enough arsenic in your diet as it is ambiguous in the soil. Especially, in areas the Northeast, particularly northern Pennsylvania. Also, any areas where metals are mined most likely have higher concentrations of arsenic in the soil and groundwater.

As you can imagine, no one will post the concentration levels of arsenic in there tables or write-ups. So I could not find any data related to arsenic levels in microgreens.
