Would microwaving the soil after removing as much plant matter as possible decrease the risk of soil borne disease?

Hi Pamela,

I would be worried about small pieces of metal in the potting mix. Most likely that would work 99.9% of the time, but it wouldn't be good for the microwave and maybe the house if there was a piece of metal in the mix.

Regardless of how small that may be, I would not recommend it because of the chance.
